Prop parenting, this is an advanced version of a so called "weld". What parenting does is disable the prop physics of the prop you parent on to another prop. Therefore when prop physics are disabled, the source engine will NOT pick up its prop physics and therefore it will not lag. This is great for adding detail to things without adding lag by welding the prop. HOW TO PARENT- Keep in mind, parenting has the priciples of a "easy" tool, that means that the first one you click on with toolgun is the one its gonna be parented.
- IMPORTANT!!!! IMPORTANT!!!!: MAKE SURE THE COLOR AND MATERIAL OF THE PROP OF WHAT YOUR GONNA PARENT IS FINALIZED BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT AFTER PARENTING!
- Select the "No-Collide" tool and no-collide the prop of what your parenting to what your parenting to.
- Then, select the "Easy precision" tool and choose the "weld" option from it.
- Then when you are on the "weld" option of "easy-precision", uncheck the box that says "[EASY]tool function" or w/e it says.
- Then, go to the "Parent-Link" option on "easy-precision" and then click what you want to parent first
- Then click the prop you want to parent it to. If your are sucessful, it will say on your screen. "Prop Physics Disabled: Parent Set"
These two listed below are if you mess up the parenting:boombarrel:If you click on the prop you want to parent twice or If you click the world by accident, it will error and parent the prop to nothing. DON'T UNDO WHAT YOUR WORKING ON! Just duplicate your entire contraption and repaste it. :boombarrel:If it works correctly, the prop you accidently mis-parented will be a normal prop again, and you can correctly parent it again. [/list] KNOWN HAZARDS Parenting props also may be a hazard for the server or for your contraption. Do NOT weld a parent or else it will spaz out and potentially crash the server or the source engine will auto-delete your entire contraptionIf you let a parent go too far outside the map bounderies or you let it drag under the map, it may crash the serverhttp://z0r.de/L/4.swf
